For SY partners to renew their cards, they DO NOT need to complete the Fuqua Partners DukeCard Form. Just go directly to the DukeCard office anytime after the expiration date printed on your card and renew it there. You can go anytime 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to renew your card.

Make sure to bring your DukeCard with you and you'll pay only the $5 renewal fee (if you don't bring your card, you'll need to pay the $10 fee for a lost card).

How do I complete the Fuqua Partners DukeCard Form?

Go to www.fuquapartners.org and click on the Duke/Durham tab.

Click on 'Duke Card Info' link and scroll down to 'How do I get my Duke Card?'

Click on the 'Fuqua Partners Duke Card Form' link above and complete the form

*** You will need your student's NET ID and password to access the form and your student's unique id to type in the designated box within the form
(If you are unsure what these numbers are, please see the FAQ below re: Net IDs and Unique IDs).

Because the Fuqua Partners DukeCard form is a secure (https) survey requiring the student Net ID / password to access, it CAN ONLY BE COMPLETED ONCE. If you make a mistake and hit submit with incorrect or incomplete data, you will NOT be able to submit another Form (it may look like a second one has gone through, but the data will NOT be collected). PLEASE FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY!

A Social Security Number is required for your Form to be processed and to receive a DukeCard.

If you do not have a Social Security Number (SS#) (e.g., International Partners and Foreign Exchange Partners) please type ‘N/A' in the box designated for your SS# to alert Duke that a dummy SS# must be created in order for you to receive.

If you have a SS#, you MUST provide this in order for your Form to be processed.

Note, this is a secure (https) survey site and your information will not be shared!

A middle name is required for your Form to be processed and to receive a DukeCard.

If you do not have a middle name, please type ‘NMN' in the box designated for middle name to inform Duke that you have no middle name.

You'll receive an email when you're application has been processed and you're card is ready. (This typically takes 2 weeks). Please wait to go to the DukeCard office until you've received an email alerting you that your DukeCard is ready for pickup.

What is the difference between my student's NetID and Unique ID?

You will need your student's NetID and password to login and access the FuquaPartners DukeCard Form. Your student's NetID is a number/letter combination (for example, abc12).

You will need your student's Unique ID number to type in the designated box within the FuquaPartners DukeCard Form. Your Student's Unique ID number is found on the back of your student's DukeCard and consists of 7 digits.

What is the cost of the DukeCard?

$5 for new card

$10 for a lost card

$5 for renewal of DukeCard when old card is present.

It's my first time getting a DukeCard, what should I bring and where do I go to pick up my DukeCard?

PLEASE bring a photo ID and the funds to cover the cost of your card ($5).

If you plan to join the Gym, please bring money to cover the cost of your membership (see details below under DukeCard Benefits).

If you plan to add FLEX Funds to your DukeCard, please bring money to cover that as well.

FLEX Funds: FLEX Funds can be used to purchase food/drinks at Fuqua, basketball games, Bryan center and are REQUIRED in order to attend paid classes at the gym (e.g., cycling).

*** It is recommended that you get the FLEX option on your card while you're there, even if you don't add money to it initially. This at least gives you the option to add it at a later date.

DukeCard Office Hours FOR NEW CARDS ONLY are Monday-Friday 8am-6pm (so that they can take your photo for the DukeCard).

The DukeCard Office is located in Room 100 in the West Union Building in West Campus, in between the Bryan Center and Duke Chapel. Here's a link to the campus map: http://map.duke.edu.

(This process will be reiterated in the email you'll receive alerting you that your DukeCard is ready for pickup).

How long do I have to pick up my new DukeCard?

Your new DukeCard information and approval expires 1 month after you receive word via email that your DukeCard is ready for pick up at the DukeCard office. Please pick up your DukeCard ASAP after receiving word that it's ready, otherwise your information will expire and you will be unable to receive a DukeCard (the Fuqua Partners DukeCard form can only be completed and processed one time by each individual).

When is the DukeCard office open?

The DukeCard office is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for:

Students to pick up their cards

Lost cards

Card renewals (THESE HOURS APPLY TO SY PARTNER CARD RENEWALS!!)

FOR NEW CARDS: The DukeCard Office Hours are Monday-Friday 8am-6pm, because they need to verify your ID, take your photo and create your DukeCard (THESE HOURS APPLY TO FY PARTNERS PICKING UP THEIR FIRST CARD)

Where is the DukeCard office located?

The DukeCard Office is located in Room 100 in the West Union Building in West Campus, in between the Bryan Center and Duke Chapel. Here's a link to the campus map: http://map.duke.edu.

How long is the DukeCard valid?
The DukeCard is good for one year. Their expiration date is printed on the front of your card.

How long does it take to get my DukeCard?

From the time the Fuqua Partners DukeCard Forms are collected (during the 1-week windows noted above), it takes approximately 2 weeks for your card to fully process.

Here is the process:

The Fuqua Partners DukeCard Form is downloaded at the end of the 1-week window noted above (excluduing Term 1, when we must wait for all incoming students to receive their cards)

On Monday, Fuqua sends the info to the Unique ID office.

The Unique ID office assigns each partner a Unique ID and sends the info back to Fuqua.

Fuqua then sends your info over to the DukeCard Office permitting access to the Fuqua amenities.

Fuqua then contacts the Fuqua Partners organization

Fuqua Partners notifies each person when they can go pick up their DukeCard

*** PLEASE WAIT TO GO TO THE DUKECARD OFFICE UNTIL YOU RECEIVE AN EMAIL ALERTING YOU THAT YOUR DUKE CARD IS READY FOR PICKUP.

What are the benefits of my DukeCard?

DUKE SPORTING EVENTS

Enables you to get into Duke sporting events using a student ticket (some venues require an additional ticket)

BUILDING ACCESS

Enables after hours access to the Fuqua building

GYM MEMBERSHIP/ACCESS

Allows you to join the Duke Gym (West and East gyms included)

You can pay by semester or for the year (Annual Cost = $99)

$33/semester (Fall Semester: Aug 15 - Dec 31 / Spring Semester: Jan 1 - May 15 / Summer Semester: May 16 - Aug 14)

Some fitness classes (e.g., cycling) cost $1/class and can ONLY be paid using FLEX Funds (see details above for adding FLEX Funds to your DukeCard).

LIBRARY ACCESS

Provides you access to the main Library at Duke University (Perkins Library) and the library at Fuqua.

Your DukeCard will be your library card (at Duke's library and Fuqua's library)

You must go to the library after you receive your DukeCard and set up an account.

PARKING AT DUKE/FUQUA

Allows you to park in "some" gated lots AFTER HOURS (M-F 5pm - 6am, All Day Sat. & Sun.)

Parking privileges with the DukeCard are ALL after hours.

AFTER HOURS (M-F 5pm - 6am, All Day Sat. & Sun.)

Fuqua Staff Parking Lot - after hours

Gym Lot - in front of Wilson Center (with purchase of gym membership)

Blue Zone

2 parking lots on left down the hill from the Wilson Center

Daytime Parking (pay by the hour)

Byran Center - hourly paid parking

Visitor lots - hourly paid parking

*** Access to these lots is not permitted the day of some Duke sporting events (i.e. Basketball Games)

For information about parking at Duke, please contact the Duke University Parking and Transportation Services at 919-684-PARK (7275)

I'm married to my Student - Can't I just take my marriage license to the DukeCard office and get my Spouse DukeCard there?

No, DukeCards for all Fuqua Partners must be processed through the Fuqua Partners DukeCard Form in order to receive access to the Fuqua building, Fuqua Parking lots and Fuqua Library.

In addition to access to these important Fuqua amenities, processing through the Fuqua Partners DukeCard Form extends DukeCard access to non-married partners including fiancés, boyfriends and girlfriends (this is a very special and recently instituted privilege unique to Fuqua).

What should I do if I am/going to be employed by Duke University and will get a DukeCard as an employee?

Anyone who is/will be an employee of Duke CAN ONLY RECEIVE ONE CARD AND IT MUST BE THEIR EMPLOYEE DUKECARD. The good news is that it can have multiple access grants (e.g., Fuqua building Fuqua parking, and Fuqua Library can be added).

Those partners should send an email to president@fuquapartners.org once they've received their employee card to get these grants updated. Please provide your full name and Unique ID (noted on the back of your employee DukeCard).

The minor only issue would be that the employee card is not a student/spouse card as "required" for access to some sporting events using student tickets, but this hasn't proved to be an issue in the past.

Who should I contact with questions about the DukeCard?

For questions related to the DukeCard that are not addressed above, please contact president@fuquapartners.org.

DukeCard Office Contact Info, http://dukecard.duke.edu/, (919) 684-5800 (Please use the Fuqua Partners board as the first line for all inquires related to your Fuqua Partners DukeCard. Well, here are some definitions of the most popular "Fuqua Slang" to help you out!

Blue Devil Weekend (BDW)

This weekend is a chance for admitted students to come see what Fuqua, Duke and the Durham area have to offer. Seminars/workshops in courses, financial aid, general relocation and more are given. You have the opportunity to meet other admits and see if you feel like Fuqua is the place for you. Special workshops and panel discussions are held for partners including a section on finding a job.

Campout

Students spend the better part of a weekend camping in a parking lot at Duke University for the chance to buy a men's basketball season ticket. Attendance checks are made at alternating intervals 24 hours a day (sometimes with a 2 hour break between them or sometimes only 15 minutes). At the end of the weekend, those who missed no more than one attendance check are entered in a lottery. If your name is called you can then choose to purchase a season ticket good for all home men's basketball games. If it sounds like the students are roughing it you would be surprised to see RV's, big screen TVs and fully catered meals....did we mention the drinking? If you get a ticket or not it is almost guaranteed that you will still come away with a weekend full of memories and many new friendships, especially if you were the one with the RV. Partners are welcomed to join in the festivities; unfortunately, only students can be entered in the lottery.

The Duke MBA Games

In 1989, a group of students decided to invite their friends from other top business schools to Durham to enjoy the warm spring weather while raising money for the Special Olympics North Carolina. Since then, the Duke MBA Games has evolved into the largest student run event on campus. Students from numerous other MBA programs compete with Fuqua students in events such as a swimming relay race in which you wear a business suit, a briefcase toss and the more familiar tug of war. The weekend of festivities takes place in March/April. http://mbaa.fuqua.duke.edu/mbagames/index.html

Flex Term

If a student wants to get ahead of the game or feels that all of their classes just aren't enough, they can choose to take a course during flex term. There are limited course options available, but students that choose to take one, begin their class almost immediately after term 2 finals. There is then a short break for the holidays with the course resuming and finishing up before the beginning of Term 3. This option opens up their schedule in later terms for more electives if they choose.

Fuqua Friday

A weekly happy hour occurring on you guessed it Friday. Students, partners, families and staff gather in the Fox Center to celebrate the ending of yet another week. Beer, wine, sodas and food are provided every Friday from 5-8 pm. Everything from appetizers to pizza, to full meals have been offered in the past. Information about each Fuqua Friday is publicized prior to the event so you should always be aware of what to expect. In the event that a term ends in the middle of the week, Fuqua Friday will become a Fuqua Wednesday or even a Fuqua Tuesday depending on the last day of classes.

Fuqua Prom

No corsage necessary, but for the most part, anything goes. Buses loop from major apartment complexes to the party site where students and their dates enjoy an open bar, appetizers and plenty of dancing. Generally held toward the end of term 2 it gives students and partners a chance to relax before finals. Everything from cocktail dresses to tuxedoes to retro 80's prom dresses can be seen.

Fuqua Vision
A hilarious pre-taped show of Saturday Night Live type skits with Fuqua students as actors, directors and producers. There are showings at the end of every term to a packed Geneen Auditorium. http://mbaa.fuqua.duke.edu/fuquavision/index.html

GATE (Global Academic Travel Experience)

Students learn about another culture by traveling. GATE courses are three credit elective courses in international business. Students study the business, culture, economy, and politics of a country or region for 6 weeks before traveling to the area studied. The travel portion of the course is typically 12-14 days in length. Students gain exposure to international businesses through visits to multi-national corporations, local enterprises, government agencies, exchange program partner schools, alumni and others in the region.

HSM (Health Sector Management)

Anyone interested in getting into pharmaceuticals, biotech, genetics, consulting, or financing of health care faces a unique business industry. The HSM concentration gives students the skills necessary to deal with the complex business relationships of the health sector. http://www.fuqua.duke.edu/programs/duke_mba/health_sector_management//

Krzyzewskiville

Right next to Cameron Indoor Stadium, home of the Duke basketball team, tents will start popping up at Krzyzewskiville after Christmas for undergrad students camping out for the big basketball games, like UNC. It is named after Duke Men's Basketball Coach Mike Krzyzewski.

MBAA (Master's of Business Administration Association)

The mission of The Fuqua MBAA is to represent the interests, needs, and concerns of daytime MBA students and student organizations across the spectrum of Duke University activities. Fuqua Partners is part of this association and receives its' funding from the MBAA. For more information check out their website. http://mbaa.fuqua.duke.edu/mbaa/index.html

School Breaks

After each term there is a break from classes (Fall break, Winter break, Spring break, and Summer Break). This time off can last anywhere from a week (Fall Break) to a few months (Summer Break). Check the academic calendar on Fuqua's website for exact dates.
http://www.fuqua.duke.edu/student_resources/academics/academic_calendars/

Sections

First years at Fuqua are divided into 6 sections. Students attend classes with their sections and compete against other sections in a variety of events and fundraising opportunities. Within the sections, the students are further broken down into teams of 5 or 6 students who they will spend way too much time with doing projects during the First and Second Term (6 weeks each).

WaDuke

Short for the Washington Duke Inn, it is the home of the Al Buehler Trail (otherwise known as the WaDuke Trail) and the impeccable Duke University home golf course.

Here are some helpful tips to help you navigate around Duke and Fuqua.

For the most comprehensive information please contact the Duke University Parking and Transportation Services at http://aux03.auxserv.duke.edu/parking/ or 919-684-PARK (7275)

Your DukeCard will help make parking easier during after hours. Here are the privileges you get with your DukeCard:

AFTER HOURS (M-F 5pm – 6am, All Day Sat. & Sun.)

Fuqua Staff Parking Lot - after hours

Gym Lot – in front of Wilson Center (with purchase of gym membership)

Blue Zone

2 parking lots on left down the hill from the Wilson Center

For parking locations and zones, click on the following link - http://aux03.auxserv.duke.edu/parking/campusmap/2004mapsmall.htm

Daytime Parking

During the day, the only options for partners are lots that charge by the hour. Click on this link to see the prices http://aux03.auxserv.duke.edu/parking/visitors/Visitors_University.htm. The most popular lots to park at for Fuqua would be:

Science Drive Visitor lot

Byran Center Lot

Sporting Events

When a game/event is happening at Duke University, things are a little crazy! Try to borrow your student's parking permit tag or you will have to pay and park in the Bryan Center (or pay the game day parking fee).

Duke Info: Helpful Links

We did the searching for you.
